For my love of food

Some dishes cooked by me 🙂

Being a foodie is so much more than trying new cuisines or restaurants and snapping pretty pictures of the food, or even deciding which ingredients work together in perfect harmony.

Its much more.

It encapsulates culture, family values, community, thought, and adventure. It’s a conversation, an expression and metaphor of love, patience, nostalgia, and history.

A single bite of home cooked mutton and rice reminds me of being nestled in a cozy blanket with my family on winter nights, and all of us eating every meal together, making me feel as if like I never left.

The aroma of onions being sautéed in spices make me feel the presence of my mom, as if she’s right next to me, cooking my favourite meal.

The same old maggi noodles transport me to childhood, when all the neighbour kids would get together every single evening, play games, laugh endlessly and enjoy each second to it’s fullest, the warmth spreading inside me, like it did when I was little.

Cooking that simple Maggie with a twist makes me believe that possibilities of exploring new heights are endless.

Food has the power of bringing people from even unfamiliar lands together, you don’t need to know the language.

The best memories of school I have are of onion paratha cooked by mom and five hungry school children huddled over the same lunchbox.

When I cook/order a dish from another country, it increases my love and desire to visit the place, eating it in the most authentic way possible, the recipes that have been handed down from generations to generations.

To me, food is the magic ingredient that bakes the most beautiful memories into our lives.
